Does Tradition Matter?

<itunes:subtitle>Chris Heeb talks about tradition and does it matter.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Chris Heeb talks about tradition and does it matter. Jesus talked about how tradition can interfere with Gods truth. Mark 7:8-9 8You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.” 9And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition! Some traditions can become foundations to helping people keep their faith alive, but too often traditions become more important that God's Word. This happens in all religions, but it is harmful when traditions replace the prinicples of scripture. Ask yourself "why do we do this in our church? What makes this practice or this belief scripturally correct? Does this doctrine that we hold to scripturally correct, or is it based upon the traditions of men?" There is nothing wrong in asking some penetrating questions about how faith in your fellowship is practiced. This is another reason why Good News for Israel is hosting a Hebraic Root Confernece this fall and details are listed below to find out more.If you would like to hear the full interview with Rich Pogin and Chris Heeb click here.
The Name of Jesus/Yeshua Means Salvation

<itunes:subtitle>Chris Heeb speaks about the story of salvation through the name of Yeshua/Jesus</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Chris Heeb speaks about the story of salvation through the name of Yeshua/Jesus. The Hebrew name of Yeshua/Jesus means salvation, it is not only the concept of salvation, it is the actual act of salvation. One of the strengthens of the evangelical message is the message of a personal God who wants to establish relationship with us. Growing up I knew God through the creeds and the catecisims of the church, but I did not know Him as a person. Jesus makes God a person, He was the Word made flesh, and He was the fulness of the Godhead living among us to bring us God's salvation. God's salvation is the person of Jesus Christ and when we talk about knowing Him, it means that we have accepted Him as our salvation, our means of knowing God. Only God can provide salvation, and only God can bring us into His kingdom. Creeds, doctrines, baptisms, church attendance, altar calls, small groups, and prayer meetings are all reminders of who is at the center of the salvation message, but they can't save us. Doing activity isn't salvation, that is why so many people sitting in church on a Sunday morning may not know God's salvation, they only know how to do religious activity. George Barna came out a few years ago with a statistic that indicated that only 50% of any given congregation actually is saved. If that is true, than the message of a personal God, a personal salvation in Jesus Christ should begin with those of us in the Church. Chris Heeb talks about this personal salvation in this short Facebook clip. Click here to listen to the full interview with Rich Pogin and Chris Heeb Good News for Israel is hosting its first annual Hebraic Root Conference this fall at St Michaels Lutheran Church in Bloomington MN October 13-15, 2011.This conference will feature musicians like Marty Goetz, authors Dr Lois Tverberg, Don Finto, Keith Johnson, and Messianic pastor Scott Volk.
Christ is the End of the Law?

<itunes:subtitle>Rich Pogin and Chris Heeb talk about the end of the law.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Rich Pogin and Chris Heeb talk about the end of the law from Romans 10:4 4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Many Christian commentators will say this is the doing away with the law, and so with Christ there comes a new religious system. However, the 'end of the law' does not mean doing away with it, it means that Christ was the object of the law. In other words, the law was the arrow, and the target was Christ. We can not interpret that the law has ended, because Jesus said it did not end in Matthew 5:17. It is important for the Church to reevaluate their postion on the Hebraic Roots of scripture, because it brings a richer context to the table of interpretation. To listen to the entire interview with Rich Pogin and Chris Heeb click here.Good News for Israel is hosting a "Hebraic Root Conference" this fall in the Twin Cities to help the Church understand this concept of interpretation. Over the centuries, theologians, and Bible translators have made some critical errors in interpreting the scriptures through their European or Western mindsets, and it has favored the meaning of the scriptures differerently than what was originally written. This conference is free but registration is required. For more information or registration go to gnfi.org </itunes:summary>

The Principles of God's Story

<itunes:subtitle>Chris Heeb talks about the Torah, God's principles, upon which the story of Israel is based.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Chris Heeb talks about the Torah, God's principles, upon which the story of Israel is based. Jesus spoke about this principle in Matthew 7 24“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be likeafoolish man who built his house on the sand. 27And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Here Jesus is speaking about Himself, as the foundation, but even Jesus had the foundation of the Law and Prophets to stand upon. Jesus did not break the law, He clarifed the law, and brought it into perspective. He also said in Matthew 5:17 that He did not come to do away with the law and prophets but fulfill them. So, again, we see Jesus building upon what was historically true, God's call and His promises to Abraham was the foundation upon which Jesus built. The Torah is still important to the Church today, because it lays the foundation for the teachings of Christ and the New Testament. To listen to the full interview with the Executive Director of Good News for Israel Chris Heeb you can follow the provided link. Click here to listen to the full interview with Rich Pogin and Chris Heeb.
The Bible Is One Story

<itunes:subtitle>Chris Heeb talks about the one story of scripture.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Chris Heeb talks about the one story of scripture. Too often the scriptures get divided up between two halfs, and the Old Testament is considered great for stories on faith, but has little to do with the meat of scripture which many Christians think is only found in the New Testament. The ministry of Good News for Israel is to challenge the theology of the Church where people teach that Jesus came to start a new religion. When you study the New Testament you quickly realize that much of what it speaks about is based on a historical foundation found in the Old Testament. We like to say that the Bible is one story, it is His story from Genesis to Revelation. Everything Jesus taught, and most of what the New Testament writers wrote about has cultural, and contexual connections, and without understanding those connections, you will misinterpret what is being said. It has been our contention, that many false prophets who don't really know the context of the scriptures will interpret it to mean what they want it to say. This is where the Church can stand against such teaching by knowing the Hebraic Root of scripture with it's proper context. Many false teachers have used Old Testament scriptures to make a point for a prophetic interpretation for the modern church, when the scripture was meant only for ancient Israel. So, learning scripture from a Hebraic Root foundation prepares you for false interpretations and misconceptions that are often found in the Church. To hear the full interview with Rich Pogin and Chris Heeb click here Good News for Israel is hosting a conference this fall that will teach on the Hebraic Root theology. This conference will feature the best teachers and authors who are writing and speaking on this topic. Internationally known recording artistMarty Goetz will be leading worship at this conference and for more information please go to gnfi.orgThis conference is free, but registration is required because of limited space.
The Passion for Culture and Context

<itunes:subtitle>Chris Heeb and Rich Pogin discuss some insights on the cultural and contextual settings of Jesus and the Jews.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Chris Heeb is the Executive Director of Good News for Israel and Rich Pogin is a Board member and they talk in this podcast about the culture and the context of the Hebraic Roots. GNFI was birthed as a ministry in Norway in 1878, when God spoke to some ordinary people about reaching Jews with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Since that time, GNFI has been used by God to inspire the Church to be more pro-active in their evangelism efforts to reach the Jewish Community. One of the strategies for outreach has been to teach the Church about the context and culture of the scriptures, and how learning theology through the Hebraic root can help Christians realize that their history is not sepearate from Israel, but a part of it. This week, Rich Pogin interviews Chris Heeb and gives insights into how culture, and context play a huge role in interpreting scripture. On October 13-15, 2011 GNFI will be hosting it first annual "Hebraic Root" conference in Bloomington MN. This conference will feature national speakers from around the country, and worship will be lead by Internationally known Marty Goetz. This conference is free, but registration is required because of limited space. For more information or to register, please go to gnfi.org. </itunes:summary>

The DNA of the Church is a Hebraic gene

<itunes:subtitle>Pastor Shelly Volk speaks about the DNA of the Church that comes from the Hebariac root of the Hebrew scriptures.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Pastor Shelly Volk speaks about the DNA of the Church that comes from the Hebariac root of the Hebrew scriptures. Science tells us that every living creature has a DNA code, and that code is the identification of that person or animal. Well if we were going to say that the Bible has a DNA code, it would be Hebraic, the building block of the scriptures. It is this DNA that the New Testament is built upon, and without the Hebrew Scriptures we would have an incomplete record of the foundation of our faith. When the church teaches that Jesus started a new religion, they misunderstand the scriptures. Pastor Shelly and June Volk help us understand the DNA in the scriptures and it helps us see what Jesus came to fulfill. To hear the full interview with Pastors Shelly and June Volk click here This fall Good News for Israel will be hosting a HebraicRoot conference. This conference is free but registration is required because of limited space. For more information or to register go to gnfi.org </itunes:summary>

The Law Is a Professor (schoolmaster)

<itunes:subtitle>Pastor Shelly Volk talks about the Law and how it helps us understand and appreciate God's grace.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Pastor Shelly Volk talks about the Law and how it helps us understand and appreciate God's grace. In Galatians 3:24 the Apostle Paul writes, "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith."The law is righteous, it is God's way of helping us understand the way to live with people, and worship God. Living morally, honestly, with integrity takes an understanding of what is expected by God. His instructions is His Word, it is the Torah, and when Jesus become flesh, He was representing all of this here on earth. Jesus was the law, He lived out the law, He was God's instructions to us, and then He fulfilled the law requirements when He died upon the cross. One of the misconceptions in the Church today is that there are two parts of the Bible, an Old and New Testament. This was established by early Church Fathers who wanted to make sure there was a distinction between the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament. However, God is the same God in both Testaments, and He doesn't change, so the Bible is only one book, not two. The Bible is a book of telling Gods story through the Jewish people. This kind of concept is foreign to many Christian believers today, but it is the correct way of looking at the Bible. Pastor Shelly Volk talks about the law and it's benefit to us as believers in Christ. To hear the full interview with Pastors Shelly and June Volk click here Good News for Israel is hosting a Hebraic Root Conference called "Reconnecting the Branches to the Roots," this fall October 13-15 in Bloomington MN. This conference will be free, but registration is required because of limited space. For more information about this conference or to register go to: gnfi.org On the website you will be able to see a video promo on the conference with an opportunity to register yourself and others you know want to attend this conference. </itunes:summary>

The Law Reveals to Us Gods Instruction on Sin

<itunes:subtitle>Pastors Shelly and June Volk speak to the heart of what the law was designed to do in our lives.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Pastors Shelly and June Volk speak to the heart of what the law was designed to do in our lives. The scriptures tell us that the law doesn't get replaced, it is a part of the faith we have in Christ. Romans 3:31 31Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law. We often interpret the word law in a judicial sense of the word, but it really means instruction. It means that God is instructing us on how to live with each other, and with Him. It becomes a school master in the sense of teaching us what sin is, and how sin affects our relationships. God also knew that by us keeping the law, without a heart relationshipwith Him, would be a test of the will and impossible. That is why, in the New Covenant of Jeremiah 31:31-34 God says He will write His instruction (law) in our hearts so we know inwardly God's righteous ways. This is what the Holy Spirit does in convicting us of sin, and brings the worlds ways into judgment according to God's Word. (John 16:8-11)Shelly and June Volk came to Christ from the Orthodox Jewish tradition, and have pastored for over 40 years. The GNFI podcast this week is featuring this couple as they teach on the Law and the believer. To listen to the full interview with Pastors Shelly and June Volk click here Good News for Israel is hosting a Hebraic Root Conference this fall, October 13-15, 2011 in Bloomington MN. This event will feature national musicians and speakers teaching on the Hebraic Root of scripture, which brings to our understanding how the culture impacted the context of the Word of God.
The Law Is Alive In Us In Christ

<itunes:subtitle>Pastors Shelly and June Volk speak about the goodness of the law.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Pastors Shelly and June Volk speak about the goodness of the law. This theme is probably the least understood my most believers in Christ today. Much of the preaching today focus' on the casualness of theology, and the practice of social justice. However, as believers our need is to know the foundations upon which the Bible is based, and not rely on teachers to tell us what it says. God wants us to know that the Law is a good thing. God never put the law into place for it to be an evil in peoples lives, but He made the law to point us to our need of a Savior. In Christ, we fulfill the law, because He fulfilled it on our behalf before God. The Law and the prophets were never done away with, they are still intact in Christ Jesus. (Matthew 5:17-18) When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, he responded that to love God, and your neighbor is the greatest worship and service to God. But notice what He said, "in thesetwo commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." God's Law and the prophets all are based upon the foundation of relationship. This is not legalism, it's God's word being lived out in love and obedience. Matthew 22:38-40 38This is the great and first commandment. 39And a second is like it: You shall love your neighboras yourself. 40On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”Pastors Shelly and June Volk bring this to life in the Good News for Israel podcast this week, and the full interview is linked below. <itunes:summary> Shelly Volk, a Jewish believer and pastor, talks about the need to come together to understand the relationship between the Jew and Gentile. Looking back in history you can see why the Jewish people are skeptical of the church because of their antisemitism that has been displayed throughout the centuries. Jews have suffered at the hands of Christians who believed they were "Christ Killers" which is far from the truth. Christ came to give His life willingly, and no people group was responsible for His death. His death was the plan of God. However, the European Church was antisemitic in its theological outlook and it was used by the Nazi's to exterminate Jews during World War II. Shelly and June Volk join us this week on our weekly podcast from Good News for Israel, and teach on matters that affect our understanding of the Jews and the Hebrew scriptures.
The Law and Grace, Are They Opposites?

<itunes:subtitle>Shelly and June Volk, Jewish believers in Yeshua/Jesus and Pastors for over 40 years, teach on the importance of understanding how the law and grace work together in Yeshua/Jesus.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Pastors Shelly and June Volk came to Christ from an Orthodox Jewish background, and traded in a life of success in a New York stock brokerage for a life of ministry in a Christian Community in Minnesota. Shelly and June Volk are talking this week about the various ways the Church has been anti-semitic, and it begins because of the ignorance of the Hebraic scriptures. There still is a view in the church today that the God of the Old Testament is different than the God in the New Testament. Shelly tells us that this view goes back to the second century and has never really died away, it continually resurrects itself in new generations. Many Christians can not understand the God of the Old Testament, and write Him off as being the God of "Law" and that part of God was done away with when Jesus came. We all know God is the same yestereday, today and forever, He never changes, so that theology is not even close to what the Bible teaches. The Law is God's instruction to us to help us understand sin, and without understanding how sin affects us and our relationship with God, we will fail to appreciate the goodness of God's grace. The Volks also remind us that the Church throughout History was influenced by what some would call "the Church Fathers" whose early writings on Christian theology and practice were antisemitic. It is important for Christians to understand how the "Jews" got the label "Christ-killers" and how that has influenced the Church today. This podcast with Shelly and June Volk is a must for Christians who want to grow in their understanding of the Bible. This fall Good News for Israel will be hosting its first annual "Hebraic Root Conference" in Bloomington Minnesota. This conference will feature national speakers and authors whose expertise is on the Hebraic Root of scripture.
The Last Marriage

<itunes:subtitle>The Marriage Supper of the Lamb is described in Scripture as the time when Jesus and His Bride the Church are reunited in heaven.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> The Marriage Supper of the Lamb is described in Scripture as the time when Jesus and His Bride the Church are reunited in heaven. Jesus at the Passover meal the very night He was betrayed, instituted what we call "communion." Matthew 26:28 28for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. He of course was referring to Jeremiah 31:31-34 (31) “Behold, the days arecoming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, (32)(33) But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (34) And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the LORD. This covenant of course is the fulfillment of His death, resurrection, and the promise of the Holy Spirit that dwells within the hearts of believers. Jesus would be sealing this covenant with His blood the very next day on the cross. This act of sacrifice was the betrothel between our Lord and His Bride the Church. This betrothel period will be fulfiled upon His return to this earth. The teaching of Jesus was based upon the ancient Jewish tradition of marriage. This clearly demonstrates how everything written in the New Testament has a root to its teaching which is based upon the Hebrew scriptures. (Old Testament) If you would like to learn more about Passover and its connection to the Church, listen to the full teaching with Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman which is linked below.
Communion That Jesus Introduced Is Based Upon The Celebration of Passover

<itunes:subtitle>Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman discuss the roots of the Communion celebration that Christians observe.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman discuss the roots of the Communion celebration that Christians observe. For years I thought Jesus just invented what we call the last supper, and that it was a brand new observance. However, it was not new, like so many of the things you read about in the New Testament, they all have their basis in the Hebrew scriptures. The Passover feast found in Leviticus 23 was a celebration of remembering how God delivered the nation of Israel out of slavery in Egypt. The blood of the sheep that was slained in observance of this feast was used on the doorposts of each Jewish home. Placing this blood at the top of the doorway, and at each side of the door can be seen as the making of the sign of the cross. When the death angel saw the blood, that family was passed over and were protected against the last plague God brought against Egypt for not giving Israel their freedom. When Jesus was celebrating the Passover meal with His disciples, it was a traditional meal celebrated by Jews since the time of Moses, remembering the deliverance God brought to His people. Jesus, knowing there would be another deliverance, this time for the entire human race, instituted His death, His resurrection, and His coming again, by taking the cup of wine, and the bread. Every time we take Communion, we are remembering what Jesus did, and that He promised to come again. Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman teach on this aspect of Communion as it relates to the Passover and todays clip is only a small part of the full interview which we have linked to below. To hear the full interview with Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman click hereGood News for Israel will be hosting a Hebraic Root Conference October 13-15, 2011 in Bloomington MN. This conference will teach on the importance of culture and context of the scripture and how thisrelates to the church today.
The Contract of the Groom

<itunes:subtitle>Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman speak about the marriage contract between Jesus, the groom, and the church, His bride.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman teach on the marriage contract between Jesus, the groom, and the church, His bride. As Jesus prepared for His death he spoke often about his going away to prepare a place for us. He used a common wedding methaphor of His day to explain this marriage contract between His followers and Himself. In ancient Israel, it was common for the groom to make a bethrol promise to His future bride that he was going away to build onto His father house a place for them to live. In his absence she readied herself for the day of his return. She never knew when he would come so every night she lit a candle in the window to signify she was ready to be wed. Meanwhile the groom would build onto his fathers house a place for himself and his new bride to live. The father would be the one who would inspect the work being done, and when it was ready to inhabit, he would tell his son, go get your bride. This common engagement period, as we would call it today is exactly where theChurch is at waiting for His return to take us to the place He has prepared for us. Jesus also said, no man knows, not even Himself, the hour in which He would come back, only the Father knows. So the Church, like the bride, is waiting, preparing herself for the coming of the Lord. Rabbi Ed Rothman and Chris Heeb give insight into this story in todays clip. To hear the full teaching on this theme click here Good News for Israel is hosting a Hebraic Root Conference this fall October 13-15, 2011 called, "Reconnecting the Branches to the Root." This conference is free but registation is required by going to our website.
The Blood Covenant Is God's Way For Salvation

<itunes:subtitle>Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman talk about the Covenants of the Lord</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman talk about the Covenants of the Lord and how the "Blood Covenant" was instituted following the fall of man in the garden. So many believers do not know where that shedding of blood came from, and why it was used as an atonement for sin. This is another reason why the Hebraic Root theology is so critical. To start at the beginning of man's creation, and see how the sacrifice of animals played a substitutionary role of forgiveness until the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ upon the cross. Today, we have so-called Christian leaders denying the power and wisdom of the cross. Without the cross we have no hope, we have no forgiveness from our sins, and we have no relationship with a Holy God. The Apostle Paul wrote about the cross in 1 Corinthians chapter one: Christ the Wisdom and Powerof God 18For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God This Lenten season is a time to reflect upon how God pursued us and gave to us an opportunity to know Him through the act of mercy at the cross. Good News for Israel is a 134 year old ministry that tells the Story of Jesus through the culture and traditions of the whole Bible. God's story of salvation started wth Abraham, went through Moses, King David and ended with the work on the cross by Jesus Christ. This is our Hebraic root, and it why we are hosting our first annual "Hebraic Root Conference" this fall. The theme of this years conference is, "Reconnecting the Branches to the Root." Marty Goetz willbe leading worship, authors Don Finto, Keith Johnson, and Lois Tverberg will be our main speakers. This conference is free and open to the public, but reservations are required because of limited space. For moreinformation or for registration check out our website at: gnfi.org To hear the full teaching with Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman click here </itunes:summary>

<itunes:subtitle>Rabbi Ed Rothman and Chris Heeb discuss the importance of Passover for the church.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Rabbi Ed Rothman and Chris Heeb discuss the importance of Passover for the church. Facebook this week will be featuring some clips from a teaching on Passover from Good News for Israel. The Hebraic Root of the cross goes back to Leviticus 23 and the feasts of the Lord. Passover is one of those feasts, and it was meant to celebrate the deliverance of Israel from slavery. Easter, or "Resurrection Sunday" is meant to do the same thing, to celebrate the freedom from the slavery of sin. The history of our faith goes back long before the cross to Abraham and Moses, and it is important in these days of great deception to know the foundation. If the foundation is in place, it is a lot harder for Satan to bring deception into your theological understanding of God. Takes some time this week and listen to the entire teaching which is linked for your convenience. Good News for Israel is hosting its first annual "Hebraic Root" conference this fall in Bloomingtion MN.
Passover the Foundation of Easter

<itunes:subtitle>Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman discuss Passover and the Feasts of Leviticus 23.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Passover is a celebration that the Jews celebrate to remind them of God's provision. They were in slavery 430 years in Egypt, and God's deliverance for them came through the leadership of a reluctant man named Moses. God had a calling upon Moses from the day he was born, and it took him the majority of his adult life to realize it. He become by far the most outstanding leader of Israel, until Jesus. Passover is one of the feasts celebrated in Leviticus 23, and is the forerunner of what happened at the cross. Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice, once and for all for all mankind. Most reference books say that the name “Easter” derived from the Eastre, the Teutonic goddess of Spring. Many Christians today call Easter, "Resurrection Sunday" which is a better name since it is the reason why we celebrate this holiday. Passover however is the foundation of what we celerbate on Easter Sunday in the Church and the teaching by Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman will helpyou understand the Hebraic Root of God's plan to bring redemption first to Israel and then to the whole world. Good News for Israel is a 134 year old Messianic ministry that is dedicated to the establishment of the one new man mention in Ephesians 2. We interpret scripture through the lens of a Hebraic Root theology that brings Gods story back to Abraham and traces that story through the "law and prophets" through Jesus and ultimately ending with the ruling and reigning of Jesus Christ from Jerusalem. It is this reason that GNFI will be hosting a Hebraic Root conference this fall, October 13-15 in Bloomington MN and you can find out more by coming to our website. gnfi.org </itunes:summary>

Paul Was a Practicing Jew To The End of His Life

<itunes:subtitle>The Apostle Paul didn't convert to the type of Christianity we have today. He was a Jew, a practicing Jew until the end of His life.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> The Apostle Paul didn't convert to the type of Christianity we have today. He was a Jew, a practicing Jew until the end of His life.Thom Berkowitz interviews a former Rabbi, who found Yeshua Jesus as his messiah. Now, the question is, did this Rabbi convert to Christianity? No, he became aware as a Jew that the Messiah, who the scriptures teach would come, has come, and His name is Jesus. This has been the problem with Christianity as a whole. We have to convert people to a set of standards the Church endorses as right theology. Now Jesus or Yeshua, (His real name in Hebrew) was Jewish, didn't convert or come to start a new religion, He came to fulfill the law and the prophets, both of which were given to Israel. It was in this fulfillment that He establishes a New Covenant, found in Jeremiah 31:31-34. It is this covenant, (still given to Israel), becomes the foundation of the everything fulfilled by Jesus and allowed for the record of the New Testament to be written as a testament of His story. So if there was any converstion being done, it is Gentiles, or the Church, converting to Biblical Judaism. The Church over the centuries has invented theology, and practices that do not represent His story accurately. This is the first discovery that a fully devoted follower of Christ uncovers. You may aske, "what is the accurate rendering of His story?" Well, that is not easily answered, but you start with an understanding that Jesus was Jewish, He came as the Jewish Messiah, and fulfilled all the promises given to Israel by God found in the Old Testament. It is from this Biblical worldview that we approach the scriptures, and not from a Western or Greek worldview in which most of the Church has adopted. That is why Good News for Israel is hosting it's first annual "Hebraic Root Conference" this fall, called, "Reconnecting the Branches to the Root." This conference will be free to the public, but registration is required because of limitedspace. Please go to gnfi.org for more information on the conference and to register. For the complete interview with Dr Herb Opalek, click here </itunes:summary>

Jesus is the Living Torah

<itunes:subtitle>Dr Herb Opalek speaks about how all Torah (God's Instruction) and the Prophets are fulfilled in Jesus.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Dr Herb Opalek speaks about how all Torah (God's Instruction) and the Prophets are fulfilled in Jesus. This theme is the basic argument of those of us who teach about the "Herbaic Root Theology." This theology is based upon the the scripture of Matthew 5:17-18 Matthew 5:17-18 Christ Came to Fulfill the Law 17“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18For truly, I say to you, until heavenand earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. What Jesus was saying was that not the slightest change will be made in any of God's instruction. (Law) His instructions are perfect, and when the Son of God became flesh, He became the living Torah on earth. He lived a sinless life because He was the incarnate Torah, perfect in everyway. So when people say, the Law has been done away with, they just don't understand the scriptures. Nothing, has been removed, it's been fulfilled in Jesus. As believers in Jesus, He has fulfilled all the requirements, all the sacrifices, all the prophecy, it's all finalized in Him. When I buy a new car, I don't seperately buy an engine, a body, an interior, wheels, brakes, and transmission, it is all assembled in the finished car. However, what makes up that finished car are these parts as they all work together, fulfilling their purpose in the end product of the car. In Christ, He is the prophet, the priest, the King. He is the law, the wisdom, and the prophecy of all of scripture, He is the final product. So nothing has been replaced, it's all complete in Him. Simple, and complete! Thom Berkowitz, GNFI Board Member, interviews a former Rabbi Dr Herb Opalek on this theme. Good News for Israel is hosting a three day conference this fall October 13-15 at St Michael's Lutheran Church in Bloomington Mn.
Identity Theft?

<itunes:subtitle>Dr Herb Opalek speaks to Thom Berkowitz about the "Identity Theft" of some in the Church.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Dr Herb Opalek speaks to Thom Berkowitz about the "Identity Theft" of "Replacement Theology." I didn't know what "supercessionism" (Replacement Theology) was until someone explained it to me. However, even though God's design was to establish the "One New Man" of Ephesians 2, it did not replace all His promises and history with His people the Jews. 14For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15byabolishing the law of commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. This new identity in Christ does not steal from the Jews their identity as God's people, and the people to whom God gave His Word. We come to God as we are, Jew or Gentile, and in Christ there is the one new man, but this does not replace all of what God promised to Israel. That is why Paul reminds the Church in Romans 11:17-18 not to be arrogrant, because it's the Jews who are were given the covenant of a Messiah/Savior (Jeremiah 31:31-34) and the Gentiles are grafted in to that covenant. 17But if some of thebranches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, 18do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. Dr Herb Opalek a former Rabbi talks with GNFI Board member Thom Berkowitz about this "Identity Theft" in today's clip. Good News for Israel is hosting a Hebraic Root Conference this fall and it will revolutionize your theology. It will help you understand the foundation of Christianity and help you see the future clearly as the scripture teaches. The conference is free, but you have to register your attendance because the space is limited for this national event.
Having Faith Means You Will Doubt

<itunes:summary> Thom Berkowitz interviews a former Rabbi who talks about how he is treated by his former students now that he is a believer in Yeshua/Jesus. Most people who come to faith in Jesus don't feel the sting of their decision as much as does a Jew or a muslim making that same decision. Death often faces the muslim, and total separation and humiliation awaits the Jew.Jesus told us that we would not be the most popular people as Christians. Its because of our witness to the truth that Jesus is the only way, truth and the life, the only way to the Father in heaven. Our culture does not like exclusivity, it likes pluralism, there are many truths, and many paths. The world is wrong, dead wrong, because Jesus said that broad is the way to destruction, but narrow is the way to life. Matthew 7:13-14 13“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and ithose who find it are few. Listen, it's easy to flow with the crowd, because who wants to be different, who wants to stand in the way of what everyone is doing or thinking? It's hard standing for truth, because you will be misunderstood, put down, and ridiculed. Faith in God will always be tested, but God is faithful to those who trust in Him. To hear the entire interview with Dr Herb Opalek click here </itunes:summary>

Dr Opalek was a former Orthodox Rabbi who became a follower of Yeshua/Jesus after reading a Gideon's Bible in a hotel room. Thom Berkowitz, a Board member of Good News for Israel, interviews this former Rabbi about Torah and the Messiah Jesus. Torah has been often translated "Law" and has been misunderstood through this definition. "Torah" properly translated means, "God's Instruction" which has a slightly different representation than what we normally think of as "law." In today's Facebook clip you hear the story of how a mishap with airline bags caused the delay of the travel plans of this Rabbi. As a result, this Rabbi found himself reading a Gideon's Bible and finding the Messiah Yeshua. To hear the full interview with Dr Herb Opalek click here </itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary> Thom Berkowitz interviews a former Rabbi about his faith in Yeshua/Jesus as Messiah and Savior. You will hear how this accomplished, academic Rabbi studied the New Testament for his Phd just so he could find out how to argue against it. Dr Herb Opalek is Thom's guest all week as he finds out how the culture, and the context affect the way we interpret the scripture in order to understand the Jesus we know as Savior. Dr Opalek now oversees a Rescue Mission in California, and has been actively engaged in speaking about how Torah (God's Instruction) has not been replaced by Yeshua, but simplely fulfilled. Dr Opalek's view on the matter is that Torah helps us to understand what Jesus fulfilled, and how Jesus is the living Torah as it states in John 1:1. This interview is an example of how the power of God can change a person, even the most hardeded person toward the gospel, by bringing a conviction of who Jesus is, and why He came. Dr Opalek became a follower of Yeshua as an OrthodoxRabbi through the reading of John 3. </itunes:summary>

The Advantages of Knowing the Hebraic Roots

<itunes:subtitle>Pastor Jay Christianson talks about the advantages of a pastor teaching the congregation about the Hebraic Roots of the faith.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Pastor Jay Christianson talks about the advantages of a pastor teaching the congregation about the Hebraic Roots of the faith. George Barna has reported that most Evangelicals do not have a Biblical worldview. That world view is based upon the basic teachings of the Bible, such as sin,who is the Devil, Heaven and Hell, virgin birth, and today all of these basic Biblical teachings are coming under attack. Of course we have been told in scripture that one of the major assaults against believers and non-belivers alike will be deception. The basic strategy of Satan is to confuse, blurr, and re-define what we know to be true. So it shouldn't be a surprise to us if we see these things creep into the church, and if we do not prepare ourselves with sound Biblical teaching, we too will be swept away by ideas that are not Christ honoring. Satan knows that his time is short, and his anger toward the cross and those who preach it, is intensifying each day. How do you stand in such a dececptive day? The Hebraic Root is the foundation of everything in the New Testament, and without a good foundation beneath your theology of the New Testament, you will be vulnerable to believing something that is not true. We have people believing we are living in the Millenium now, and how can that be, since Jesus has not returned as some of the Old Testament prophets have predicted? This is another reason why Good News for Israel is hosting a Hebraic Root Conference this fall in Bloomington Minnesota, Octobrer 13-15, 2011. Please see GNFI.org for more details. To hear the entire interview with Pastor Jay Christianson click here </itunes:summary>

Jesus is the Full Revelation of God.

<itunes:subtitle>Pastor Jay Christianson talks about that Jesus is the full revelation of God.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Pastor Jay Christianson talks about that Jesus is the full revelation of God. The Apostle Paul writes in Colossians 2:9 9For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. When Jesus spoke, His words had the authority of heaven because the fullness of God dwelt in Him. Jesus had the emotions, feelings, and temptations of being a human, but at the same time His character, His nature, His person was God revealed in human form. When we read the words of Jesus, we read the words that represent the fullness of God. That fulness represented all of who God is from the Old Testament, or Hebrew scriptures, and all of who God is from the New Testament, nothing is left out. That is why Hebrews 13:8 says: 8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever God is the same God from Genesis to Revelation, nothing changes with who He is, including the fact that God is the God who loves, and the God who judges, God does not change.Good News for Israel will be hosting a Hebraic Root Conference this fall in Bloomington Minnesota, more information will be posted at gnfi.org To hear the full interview with JayChristianson click here </itunes:summary>

Building Two Houses With Blueprints Designed to Build Only One House

<itunes:subtitle>Pastor Jay Christianson gives an analogy about the construction of two houses, but the plans called for building only one.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Pastor Jay Christianson gives an analogy about the construction of two houses, but the plans called for building only one. In Ephesians 2:14 we read: 14For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15by abolishing the law of commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. It is this plan that God had in mindwhen He made the promise to Abraham in Genesis 12, that the whole world would be blessed because of his faith in God. It is unfortunate that through time and history, that the Church has built a seperate building, alongside the first house of Israel. Christ removed all the restrictions, all the walls of hostility to bring peace to all mankind through His sacrifice on the cross. The history of Israel through the scriptures gives us details on the faithfulness of God to the Jews because of the promises He made to them, and His plan to use them to bring a Savior into the world. The plan was one new man, and as the people who follow Yeshua/Jesus today, we need to build our faith in Him which rests upon the older covenants that support His coming and fulfill God's promise to bring a savior to the world. Good News for Israel is hosting a Hebraic Root Conference this fall in Bloomington Minnesota October 13-15, 2011. This conference will explore the "one new man" theology as it relates to Israel and the Church today.Set those dates aside now, and more information will be coming shortly.
Securing the Foundation

<itunes:subtitle>Pastor Jay Christianson is interviewed by Larry Kutzler and Chris Heeb of Good News for Israel on the foundation of the Old Testament</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Pastor Jay Christianson is interviewed by Larry Kutzler and Chris Heeb of Good News for Israel on the foundation of the Old Testament. As you study the New Testament, you begin to discover that there are foundational principles, values, and references that point back to the Old Testament. In fact, everything you read in the N.T. has it's foundation with Israel and their relationship with God in the Hebrew scriptures. In fact, as we said many times, John 1:1 and 14 tell us about the "Word becoming flesh" means, that Jesus represented the foundations of God's word coming to life here on earth. Our emphasis at Good News for Israel is to teach that God's story of redemption began with Abraham, was fulfilled with Yeshua/Jesus on the cross, and will conclude with Yeshua/Jesus the King of the Jews, Savior of the world sittng upon His throne in Jerusalem. You can not begin His story in Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John, becausethese stories are the results of Jesus fulfilling the promises made to Israel, they only thicken the plot, but it's not where the story begins. So, our hope is that you will spend time taking in the whole council of God, realizing His story is older than just the New Testament. Good News for Israel will be hosting a conference this fall, October 13-15, 2011 at St Michaels Lutheran Church in Bloomington Minnesota, called "Returning the Branches to the Root." This conference will explore the how the Hebraic root of the scriptures will impact the return of Jesus Christ to this earth. Plan now to attend, you will find more information soon at gnfi.org Click here to listen to the full interview with Jay Christianson </itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary> Pastor Jay Christianson talks about the balance of using all scripture to get a clear understanding of God. Jay was brought into the Body of Christ through a Lutheran upbringing, but has made that experience much richer by incorporating the origin of Christianity based upon a Hebraic Root theology. At Good News for Israel we focus on the Hebraic Root of theology, because we feel without it, we are not gettting a clear picture of God's plan. If we only read the New Testament, we are like an athlete who knows how to play the game, but doesn't know how the rules of the game are applied. Street basketball is different than college basketball with rules that are enforced by the referees. The Old Testament gives us insights into the character of God who is faithful to His promises and teaches us about the justice of God. God's grace and His justice are both important when we are describing the God of the Bible. Pastor Jay Christianson comments on this today.
Pastor Jay Christianson and Torah

<itunes:subtitle>Pastor Jay Christianson speaks with Larry Kutzler and Chris Heeb about the Hebraic Roots of scripture.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Pastor Jay Christianson tells his story of how a Lutheran became interested in the Jewishness of the gospel. As believers we should look at the whole council of God which includes the Old Testment. In fact, when the Apostle Paul spoke of using scripture as our source to life, the New Testament hadn't be completely written, so what was he referring to? 2 Timothy 3:16 16All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,Of course he was referring to the Hebrew scriptures, (Old Testament) and today in the Church we need to balance out our Grace filled New Testament with the other characteristics of God. God is not only the God of John 3:16, He is also the God of 10 commandments, the God of the prophets, the God of the comforting Psalms, and the God of the wisdom in proverbs. When the Word became flesh in John 1:1, it was if the Torah, the first five books of the Old Testament came to life and put on flesh. So, if we are going to be balanced in our walk with God, we need all the scriptures, Old and New Testaments, because He is the same God in both, He does not change. Pastor Jay Christianson of Issachar Community is interviewed by Larry Kutzler and Chris Heeb and their discussion focuses on the balance of scripture. Good News for Israel will be hosting a Hebraic Root Conference October 13-15, 2011 in Bloomngton MN. <itunes:summary> The Big Question: "Did Jesus do away with the Torah upon the Cross?" Christians constantly are confused about who Jesus is, and what the Torah is, and how do these two relate? Again, if you think of the Bible as two stories, "Old and New" it will confuse you, because you will think one has passed away, while the other is brand new. You have to remember the Bible is a story of redemption, and that redemption was the restoration of the human race. God chose a semitic people group to execute His plan, and as a result, He blessed that people group with Himself. That meant He blessed them with His presence, His protection, His provision, and His instruction, commonly called the law. It was through this people group that His ultimate plan of salvation would come. So when John 1:1 tells us that the Word become flesh, what did it mean? It meant that all of who God was in His instruction, all of who He was in character, all ofwho He is as God, became like you and me in the flesh. So when Jesus went to the cross, He went there as the whole of God, not a part of Him. So yes Torah hung on the cross as God in Jesus, so as a result Torah was finalized in Jesus or fulfilled in Him, not replaced. Today, when we are in Jesus or Jesus is in us, we have the totality of God, His instruction is fulfilled and lived out in Christ. Some Christians who think they have to keep Torah and believe in Christ are mistaken, and misguided. It's not Christ, plus Torah, it's Christ, period, and Torah is in Him fulfilled. Keith Johnson talks about this in today's clip. GNFI will be host a Hebraic Root Conference October 13-15, 2011 in Bloomington MN and you can find out more at gnfi.org To hear the full interview with Rich Pogin andKeith Johnson click here </itunes:summary>

What Was the Standard Authority In the Life of Jesus.

<itunes:subtitle>Keith Johnson explains what the standard was in Jesus' life.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Keith Johnson explains what the standard was in Jesus' life. Most of the Pharasee's lived by their own made up Rabbic laws, but the standard of authority with Jesus was the the Torah. (God's Instruction) This word Torah is often described or translated as "law" and people interpret that law like they would a legislative decree or civil law. In fact it means, "God's Instructions" almost as if God was saying, "here is the way to live your life in order to succeed with Me, and with others." The tone of that word "law" is far more meaningful and purposeful than just "law." God's instruction then can never pass away, it remains in tact, and lives through our faith in Jesus Christ. As Jesus said, He didn't come to replace the Law, (God's Instruction) but to fulfill it. Matthew 5:17 Christ Came to Fulfill the Law 17“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Matthew 5:18 18For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Keith Johnson explains this in today's clip. Keith by the way is one of the featured speakers at the Hebraic Root Conference "Returning the Branches to the Root" October 13-15, 2011 in Bloomington MN.
The Great Enemy of the Gospel are the Traditions of Men

<itunes:subtitle>Jesus argued against the traditions of men, because they were in conflict with God's Word.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Jesus argued against the traditions of men, because they were in conflict with God's Word. The great enemy of the truth is tradition. Tradition should to be an avenue to truth, but what happens is that tradition becomes the truth. It becomes co-equal with truth, and in tradition lies what Jesus argued against in Matthew 23. If you want to find out how important tradition is, argue against it, and you will feel the wrath of religious people defending their sacred cow. Now, is it fair to say that all tradition is bad? No, there are traditions that can be an avenue that leads us to truth, but they are far and few traditions that do that. Traditions set us a part from our counterparts, denominations are an example of this, they set themselves a part by some unique emphasis they promote. That is why we believe at Good News for Israel that if all believers get back to the roots of scripture, they will discover an emphasis that is God's design and plan. It will confront our modern day traditions that have been up held as truth for centuries. Keith Johnson will challenge your theology by returning to the Hebraic understanding of scripture. He will be one of the featured speakers at the Hebraic Roots Conference this fall being held in Bloomington MN October 13-15, 2011.This Conference is for anyone who has a pursuit of knowing truth.
Following the Scriptures, Rather Than the Traditions

<itunes:subtitle>Keith Johnson break down the difference between Rabbinic and Biblical Judism</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Our Facebook clip today features Keith Johnson as he speaks with GNFI Board member Rich Pogin as they break down the difference between Rabbinic and Biblical Judaism. Tradition can be one of those issues that steers people in the wrong direction, and all religions have traditions that may not be holding exactly to the truth of the scriptures. In fact some traditions will say that they are equal to the truth found in the scriptures, making their practice, or their theological bent the right way to believe. Rabbi's for centuries have commented on the scriptures giving us the Talmud, and many other commentaries that give prescriptions on how to interpret the scriptures. Many denominations do the same, they have theological lens that everything is filtered through so that the conclusion can be measured by their stream of thought. Now, not all tradition is bad, you have to sensitive to what is being said, asking the question, "what is the foundation of this tradition?" Thisis one of the reasons why Good News for Israel exists, to remind the Church of it's Hebraic foundation. It is within this context that God has revealed His Savior. Context is very important to interpreting scripture, and it is within that context you will find the authors intent. Keith Johnson's co-author Nehemia Gordon for example is a Karaite Jew, who only studies the scripture, without the influence of the commentaries of the Rabbi's or the traditions of Judaism to influence them. The Hebraic root theology is a contextual understanding of scripture that places Israel in the middle of God's plan to bring His Messiah and Savior to the world. God has not replaced Israel, but has expanded on His idea that His people are the lights in our world. Good News for Israel will be hosting a fall conference October 13-15, 2011 in Bloomington MN to present to the Church the importance of context and scripture. Keith Johnson will be one of our featured speakers. We will be revealing more information about this conference shortly on our website: gnfi.org To hear the full interview with Keith Johnson and Rich Pogin click here </itunes:summary>

Jesus Read From the Hebrew Scriptures

<itunes:subtitle>Author Keith Johnson speaks about how Jesus read from the Hebrew scriptures</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Author Keith Johnson speaks about how Jesus read from the Hebrew scriptures and reminds the Church that Jesus operated under His calling to Israel first. Jesus came to bring salvation to the entire world, but in order to do this, He had to fulfill the promises God made to Israel. For example, Yeshua/Jesus is the fulfillment of the New Covenant of Jeremiah 31:31-34, which was given to the Jews. This New Covenant was ratified by the Blood shed upon the cross by Jesus, which gave the entire world a Savior. Author Keith Johnson helps us understand more about this through understanding His Name.
Are the Jewish People a Unique People Group?

<itunes:subtitle>Jhan Moskowitz talks specifically about the Jews as a unique people group.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Jhan Moskowitz talks specifically about the Jews as a unique people group. When people dismiss Israel or the Jews as just another people group we have to use scripture to point out this misconception. Here is one of many versres where God identifies the Jews as His treasure, His people. Deuteronomy 7:6 6“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. Now that does not mean God thinks the rest of the world is chopped liver, He is basically saying, "as a treasured people, you will bring somethingto the world, it has never had before, a savior." The key to Israel being special is their assignment, to be a light to the world. (Isaiah 42:6 and 49:6)That light is the light of the world, as it says in John 8:12: I Am the Light of the World 12Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Good News for Israel is having a Hebraic Conference in Bloomington MN October 13-15, 2011 featuring national and international speakers focusing on "Returning the Branches to the Roots." We will talking more about this in weeks and months to come. Stay Tuned. To listen to the full interview with Jhan Moskowitz and David Brickner from Jews for Jesus click here. </itunes:summary>

What Is Jewish Identity?

<itunes:subtitle>David Brickner and Jhan Moskowitz from Jews for Jesus talk about Jewish identity in Christianity.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> David Brickner and Jhan Moskowitz from Jews for Jesus talk about Jewish identity in Christianity. One of the greatest mistakes Christians make when taking about Jews coming to Christ, they use the term, "they converted" to Christianity. Remember, there is no converstion, it's their Olive Tree they are being re-grafted into, they are the natural branches. Jews coming to Christ are completing the story of accepting the full implications of the New Covenant given to the Jews in Jeremiah 31:31-34. This covenant revealed to the world a suffering Messiah, and a victorious Savior. Good News for Israel is a ministry that wants the Church to remember the everlasting blessing given to Abraham in Genesis 12:3. This blessing was ultimately the gift of Jesus to the world, and God said, "if you bless the decendants of Abraham, you will be blessed, and if you curse them you will be cursed." If the Church forgets Israel, or replaces Israel in their theology, how can there be a blessingfrom God? God never lies or reniges on His promises. Some have asked how do we honor Israel, most Jews aren't believers? The State of Israel is political and not religious, how can we support them? When I first accepted Christ, my mother, (dad had died) was not a believer. Now, I loved her, and I honored her as the 10 commandments required, even though she was not a believer. In time, because of that honor and respect, she came to know Jesus too. We honor Israel like a parent who gave us the life of a suffering Messiah, and a victorious Savior. The faith we experience in Christ, did not start with the New Testament, it started with Abraham, and by faith we share in all the blessings of the Hebraic root. To hear the entire interview with Jews for Jesus David Brickner and Jhan Moskowitz click here </itunes:summary>

Being More Excited About the Jewishness of Jesus, Than We Are About Jesus Himself

<itunes:subtitle>David Brickner of Jews for Jesus talks about being more excited about the cultural of Jesus, than we are about Jesus Himself.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> David Brickner of Jews for Jesus talks about being more excited about the culture of Jesus, than we are about Jesus Himself. One of the contentions of this Messianic leader is that many who come into an understanding that Christianity has a Hebraic Root get more excited about the Jewish culture than they do about the spiritual connection to Jesus Himself. Many of these followers are Gentile believers, who want and act as if they were Jewish. This kind of thinking and practice is as misleading as those in the Church who ignore the Jewishness of Jesus. If you accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and believe that the cross was the fulfillment of all that God promised to Israel, you don't need to add anything to this belief. If Jesus fulfilled all the prophets predictions and all the requirements of the law, than there is no other requirement for salvation. Too many Messianic followers try to tie in a Torah observance into the mix of Jesus, they are trying to follow all the requirements ofthe law, making the sacrifice of Jesus upon the cross inadequate and not complete. This is a misunderstanding of who Jesus is, for He is the Torah, John 1 tells us, that the Word become flesh, He is the spirit of Prophecy, Jesus is the completed work of God, period. Anything that tries to add to Him, (Torah Observant Messianic practices) are as idol driven as anything the Church does to ignore His Hebraic roots. We at Good News for Israel want the Church to know there is a blindness to their understanding of Jesus Christ, and that blindness is Jesus was Jewish, and He is coming back as the "King of the Jews" to reign from Jerusalem. We at Good News for Israel want the Jewish Community to know there is a blindness to their understanding of who Jesus Christ is, and based upon their own Hebraic scriptures He is their Messiah. To the Messianic community, you don't need to add anything to your faith in Christ, He is the completion of all God promised Abraham, all He promised to Israel, and all God promised to the Church. Jesus Christ is all we need, period, anything added is idol worship.
The Messianic Congregation Movement and the One New Man

<itunes:subtitle>David Brickner from Jews for Jesus explains the Messianic Congregational movement</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> David Brickner from Jews for Jesus explains the Messianic Congregational movement. Only 25% of Messianic Jews are in a Messianic Congregation, so that leaves the majority of believing Jews today in the Evangelical Church. Most of these believing Jews while sitting in their church, never hear a message about the Jewishness of the gospel. In fact many Jews who have come to faith in Christ are as uninformed about the Hebraic Root of scripture as their Gentile counterpart. Good News for Israel has helped many believing Jews come to understand the importance of the Hebraic Root and they have come to understand how their faith is connected to God's faithfulness to Israel. Jews for Jesus exists because there is a need to tell Jews about Jesus, and there is no better way than a Jew telling a Jew about their Messiah. However, statistics bear out that far more Jews come to faith in Yeshua/Jesus by Gentiles witnessing to them, and showing them the love of Christ. Jews, like Gentiles need a Savior, there is no other way to salvation other than through the cross of Jesus Christ. If someone tells you to leave the Jews alone when it comes to sharing the gospel, realize that the person telling you this is either ignorant of the scriptures or is deceived by the enemy. Jews,Muslims,Christians, all need to come to the cross of Jesus Christ for the purpose of having everlasting life with God. That's Bible 101.
The Move of God Among Jews Today

<itunes:subtitle>David Brickner and Jhan Moskowitz talk about the move of God among the Jews worldwide.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> David Brickner and Jhan Moskowitz talk about the move of God among the Jews worldwide. David and Jhan are directors with Jews for Jesus and travel the world bringing the message that Yeshua/Jesus is the Messiah/Savior to both Jew and Gentile. Too often in some Christian circles we will support the nation of Israel but fail to tell them about Yeshua/Jesus the Messiah. Some Christians go as far as saying that the Jews don't need Jesus, they can make it to heaven through their keeping the law, and just being Jews. This is an insult to God and the sacrifice of His Son on the cross. The cross of Jesus is the good news, the gospel, and it's for all people including the Jews. If Christians or Jews believe there is another way to God other than through Jesus Christ, their mistaken, and have believed a lie. Don't let people mislead you, and don't trust organizations or ministries that love Israel, but don't love to witness to Jews about Jesus. If you talk to any Jew who has accepted Jesus as their Savior/Messiah you will never get the answer that you shouldn't witness to Jews. There are worship services in many churches in the United States that hold "Honor Israel" rallies, and raise large sums of money for Israel. We have been told by Messianic Jews in Israel that much of that money raised goes to persecute the Jews who believe in Jesus in Israel. Please beware of who you support in honoring Israel. We need to support those ministries that believe the Jews need Jesus just like everybody else. To hear the full interview with David Brickner and Jhan Moskowitz click here </itunes:summary>

<itunes:subtitle>Jews for Jesus is a ministry that reaches out to the Jewish community with the message of the gospel.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> David Brickner and Jhan Moskowitz join us this week and explain the ministry of Jews for Jesus. In some Christian circles there is a theology that places Jews on a different plane for salvation. Jews for Jesus believe that all people have to come to Jesus for salvation, and that includes the Jews. When Jesus spoke John 14:6, declaring Himself the only way, truth, and the life, He was speaking to Jews. Jews can not get to heaven, or to God through just keeping the law, they need to accept what Jesus did upon the cross for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus death upon the cross was a one time event where He purchased our salavation, Jew and Gentile alike, and there is no other way to the Father but through the cross. David and Jhan were born Jews, and as Jews accepted the message of the cross, and accepted Yeshua/Jesus as their messiah/savior. This podcast interview will bring evangelism to the Jews into perspective. </itunes:summary>

God's Promises to Israel Have Not Been Removed!

<itunes:subtitle>Dr Michael Brown talks with Chris Heeb about God's promises to Israel are still valid today, and have not been replaced.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Dr Michael Brown talks with Chris Heeb about how God's promises to Israel are still valid today, and have not been replaced. I was a Christian over 35 years before I realized that there was a missing piece to my theology. That missing piece was that Christianity is Jewish, and Christianity was never meant to be a separate religion. It was meant to be a continuation of God's promise to Arabram that the Jews would bless the entire world through his descendants. Those descendants are the Jews, who God used to bring us the Savior of the world. Now we have made Christianity separate, and have taught that the Old Testament has been replaced by the New Testament, what a false assumption. That is not truth, the Old and the New Testament are one story, not two. One didn't replace the other, it's one redemptive story that begins with Abraham, and it ends with Yeshua/Jesus on the throne in Jerusalem. You really can't miss this when you read the scriptures, and thats why Good News for Israel exists, is to present to the Church these truths, and help the Church return and understand that the roots of the faith didn't start in Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, it started in Genesis 12:3. Remember this, it is in these roots that prophecy is explained and outlined, and that's why it is so important for the Church to get back to these roots. To hear the entire interview with Dr Michael Brown click here </itunes:summary>

The Church vs Israel, Is There a Difference?

<itunes:subtitle>Dr Michael Brown takes a historical look at Israel and the Church</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Dr Michael Brown takes a historical look at Israel and the Church. One of the underpinnings of Good News for Israel is to help the Church understand that the history of the church is deeper than the Catholic Church or the Reformation period. The Church wasn't formed in Rome, or out of Zurich or any other European Country. It was not Lutheran, Pentecostal, Methodist, Catholic, or any other denominational stripe. The Church, or congregation of God began with Abraham, and the promises God made to him. It was through those promises that Israel was birthed, and through this birth came the Church. All the covenants, or promises were given to this small group of semite people called Hebrews, or Jews. God chose these people according to the Biblical accounts, and His purpose was to prove His faithfulness to the whole world that He can be trusted. God's people Israel walked away from God many times, yet God's faithfulness to them has always remained true. This faithfulness of God gave Israel the New Covenant, and in this new covenant He gave us a Savior and a Holy Spirit, and upon our hearts He has written His laws. Now, when the Church says they had their beginning in Acts 2, or in Rome, or in Europe somewhat, it's just not true. Our history is much more than this, and it is in that history where we find Biblical insights about our future. Dr Michael Brown comments on this. To here the entire interview with Dr Michael Brown click here </itunes:summary>

<itunes:subtitle>Dr Michael Brown speaks with Chris Heeb about the Jews, and the century old claim that they are the Christ killers.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Dr Michael Brown speaks with Chris Heeb about the Jews, and the century old claim that they are the Christ killers. Over the centuries starting with the Nicene Council in 325CE, the Church went down a path that slowly moved away from it's Hebraic Roots, only to discover that it was developing an anti-semitic thelogy against the Jews. Think about it it. In Revelation 12, it talks about how Satan will do war against the woman and her offspring because she brought forth the Christ. What better way than to use the family against itself to do war against those you want to destroy. Not a bad strategy, if you look at the evil tactics Satan has used on the Jews. Dr Michael Brown talks to Chris Heeb about this topic.
Who is the Israel of God?

<itunes:subtitle>Chris Heeb talks with Dr Michael Brown about Galatians 6:16 answering the question, who is this Israel of God?</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Chris Heeb talks with Dr Michael Brown about Galatians 6:16 answering the question, who is this Israel of God?Chris Heeb talks with Dr Michael Brown about Galatians 6:16 answering the question, who is this Israel of God? This verse is behind much of the debate about the Church replacing Israel in the plan of God. Many who believe Israel has been replaced, illustrate Israel like a booster rocket that helps to launch a lunar rocket. Israel is the first stage of that launch, and then falls off and is no longer needed. Is that true? Was the role of Israel only a booster rocket to launch God's plan and now is no longer needed? Dr Michael Brown has some interesting comments about this concept in today's audio post. Remember all covenants God made with mankind, He has made with Israel, including the New Covenant of Jeremiah 31:31-34 under which the Church operates under today. This covenant was made with Israel, and only Israel, that is why the Apostle Paul says in Romans 11 that we as Gentiles are grafted into the Olive Tree of God. Jesus said in John 4:22, "Salvation is of the Jews." meaning that this wonderful gift of salvation comes through the covenants God made with Israel and the Jews. The Church must remember that our roots are found in God's relationship with His people the Jews. And when we understand those roots it helps us to define and explain how God is operating in the world today. To hear the full interview with Dr Michael Brown click here </itunes:summary>

<itunes:subtitle>Author Sandra Teplinsky speaks about the return of the Lord, and the Jewish people.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Author Sandra Teplinsky speaks about the return of the Lord, and the Jewish people. Most Bible teachers who focus on the prophetic signs that will indicate a season when Jesus will return often don't focus on the Jewish people. The prophets in the Hebrew scriptures (Old Testament) told of a time when God would bring His people back to the land. That prophecy was fulfilled in 1948, and started the time clock for His return. In Matthew 23:39, Jesus speaks about His return and how it's tied into how the Jews receive Him. Matthew 23:39 For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, ‘Blessedis he whocomes in the name of the Lord.'” Author Sandra Teplinsky says that another word for "Blessed" in Hebrew is "welcome" and it is when the Jews say welcome to Him, that He will return. Rich Pogin and Sandra Teplinsky talk together about many themes concerning the Jews and the church in a recent interview for Good News for Israel. Click hear the full interview with Sandra Teplinsky and Rich Pogin </itunes:summary>

God's Plan Was to Reach the World Through Israel's Messiah

<itunes:subtitle>Thom Berkowitz talks about Israel being the light to the nations.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Thom Berkowitz talks about Israel being the light to the nations. In Isaiah 42:6 and 49:6 the scriptures talk specifically about Israel being the light to the nations and how God was using this small group of people to represent Him on earth. God's plan was to bless a people group with His presence, His instructions, His agreements for relationship, and ultimately bring a Savior to the world. This plan was to be orchestrated through Israel, and in spite of Israel's issues of rejecting God, God was faithful in bringing a Savior to the world in Jesus Christ. God's relationship with Israel is a story of how His faithfulness to His promises can be trusted, because He never breaks His promises. That is one of the reasons when the Church looks at Israel, it may see a people who have been unfaithful, and ungrateful to what God has done for them, but they also should see the faithfulness of God in keeping His promises to the Jews. Thom Berkowitz brings some understanding to how God's plan was to be playedout through Israel. Click here to hear the full interview with Thom Berkowitz </itunes:summary>

How Are Your Sins Atoned For?

<itunes:subtitle>The scriptures teach that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. T</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> The scriptures teach that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. This is the uniqueness of Judism and Christianity among all the religions of the world, the atonement for sins is the giving of a life for the atonement of sins. In the Hebrew Scriptures, (Old Testament) it was the shedding of blood, or the taking of the life of an animal, and this blood sacrifice was used to atone for the sins of the people of Israel. God had a better plan, and His son Jesus came specifically to give His life as an atonement for the sins of all mankind. Throughout history the Jews were blamed for killing Christ, what nonsense, God designed it that Jesus would come and die willingly for the sins of us all. To blame a people group or a religious sect is not only foolish, but demonic. The Devil was trying to punish the very people who brought us the Savior, so he perpetrated a lie that the Jews were responsible. If blame was to be placed on anyone, we will have to blame God, it wasHis plan and He executed that plan that brought salvation into the world. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only son...." John 3:16Thom Berkowitz is a Bible teacher and helps us to understand this sacrifice throught a Hebraic perspective. Click here to hear the full interview with Thom Berkowitz </itunes:summary>

All Covenants Made By God With Israel Were Done By Blood

<itunes:subtitle>Thom Berkowitz talks about the ratification of God's covenants with Israel were all made with a Blood sacrifice.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Thom Berkowitz talks about the ratification of God's covenants with Israel where he explains that all covenants were ratified with blood. Ever since the fall of mankind with Adam and Eve, there was a blood requirement for the offering of sin. The Hebrew scriptures, (Old Testament) gave us a picture of the Temple sacrifices that were made with the blood of animals as a foreshadowing of the one true offering of God's Son on the cross. The New Covenant of Jeremiah 31:31-34 tells us that God is going to give a new covenant, where He will write the laws of God on our hearts, and it will be a unique covenant, and we in the Church know this covenant to be death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. “Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house ofIsrael and the house of Judah, 32not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the LORD. 33But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Thom Berkowitz talks about this covenant in today's clip. Click here to listen to the entire interview with Thom Berkowitz </itunes:summary>

How Do The Jews Get to Heaven?

<itunes:subtitle>How do the Jews find salvation without the Temple and the shedding of blood for the atonement of sins?</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> How do the Jews find salvation without the Temple and the shedding of blood for the atonement of sins? In today's religious landscape, there are all kinds of counterfeit ways to salvation. The question has to be asked, what does a Holy God require from us in order to be good enough to get into His Kingdom or into Heaven? It seems to me, that most religions place a premium on good works. If you can do all you can do for humanity, give away your fortunes, feed the poor, clothe the naked, when will it be enough for you to earn your way to heaven? How much will it require of you to get God's attention? What happens to those who can't give or do the kind of charity work it will require for God to consider enough to let you in? That is why when you compare all the religions and religious systems of the world, there isn't anything that compares to what Jesus Christ did for us upon the cross. That's why the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1:18, "The cross is the power of God." Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world, one sacrifice, one time, for all people. His work, not ours, gets God's attention and allows us access to His heaven. You just can't get better than that. Messianic teacher/educator Thom Berkowitz explains how Jews see salvation in today's clip. Listen to the full interview with Thom Berkowitz </itunes:summary>

Too often we miss the opportunities to share with Jewish people the power of their own scriptures when it comes to telling them about the Messiah. The big mistake most Christians make is trying to use the New Testament to defend Jesus as the Jewish Messiah. The need for the church is to understand how the Messiah is portrayed in the Old Testament, or Hebrew scriptures, in order to get the attention of a Jewish person using their own scriptures. <itunes:summary> Rabbi Ed Rothman talks about how the Holy Spirit comes to us to reveal our hearts, and then brings us to a Christ of forgiveness. The Holy Spirit comes to reveal to us the truth of His Word, and to bring us into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Without His conviction we would fall prey to deception, and our lives would be without the guidance of truth. Conviction is much like leposy where nerve endings are damaged to the point where pain can not be felt. So those who suffer from this disease can suffer serious injury from falling or being burned, without the benefit of pain warning us of danger. Conviction is lacking in the church today. There is a need for a new "Reformation" where the Holy Spirit brings His agenda to the hearts of the leaders today. Many leaders have abandoned the Holy Spirits agenda for the will of culture and the desires of people. There is no substitute for the power of the Holy Spirits conviction and His power to sustain that conviction to bring change to a culture out of control and away from God. The conviction of the Holy Spirit brings to us into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and help us to live in His Word, and be the kind of people who can bring change to the world around us. This kind of conviction happened to a Southern California Jew 40 years ago who was addicted to drugs, but today is a leader in the Messianic movement.
Repentence Is Not Easy

<itunes:subtitle>Rabbi Ed Rothman speaks about the great spiritual awakenings that were life changing experiences in American History</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Rabbi Ed Rothman speaks about the great spiritual awakenings that were life changing experiences in American History. In our effort to do evangelism and make Christianity relevant to our culture, we have failed to point out the need to turn away from sin, or repent. Repentance is not just saying I am sorry, forgive me, it is stopping or turning away from that sin. If you look at the revivals that changed communities, or nations in the past, those revivals started with people making confession of their sin, and repenting. As a result great spiritual awakenings birthed revivals that preached the gospel to the ends of the earth. Repentance is a God honoring act, it tells God that He is more important than the pleasure of our sins, and we are willing to forsake those sins for the opportunity to know and love Him. In a sense, it is an act of worship, where we place God ahead of everything else in our lives. Rabbi Ed Rothman reminds us of how shallow we have become in our pursuit of God.
Repentance is More Than Saying You're Sorry!

<itunes:subtitle>Rabbi Ed Rothman says that you can't have transformation of the human heart without repentance.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Rabbi Ed Rothman says that you can't have transformation of the human heart without repentance. To often today we don't hear much about repentance because it requires something from us. When God offers us His mercy and grace for the forgiveness of sins, He does so because He loves us. As i accept God's offer I will be reminded of what a perfect gift it is and how unworthy I am to receive it. It becomes an acknowledgement of truth, He is Holy, I am not, and He is willing to give me something I don't deserve. In that moment I come to what is called repentance. I am not only sorry for my sinful behavior, I am willing to change and turn away from it. This all happens because God first makes His offer of grace and mercy to me. As I repent and turn away from my sin, transformation begins to happen, and I become a new and freed person. Rabbi Ed Rothman give some perspective on this in a short clip. Listen to the full interview with Rabbi Ed Rothman </itunes:summary>

The Church Councils Dismiss God's Story

<itunes:subtitle>Chris Heeb talks about how the Church councils dismiss the history of God's story</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Chris Heeb talks about how the Church councils dismiss the history of God's story. The Church Creeds have some great theological underpinnings, however, they don't go back to the beginning of the story. Christiantiy starts with Abraham, not Jesus or the New Testament. Jesus and the New Testament tell us the conclusion of the promises made to Abraham. You don't go to a movie half way through it and get the whole theme of the movie, do you? Why then do we do that with God's story. The Reformation, Church Creeds, and Church councils are in great error if they don't keep the story of Jesus Christ in His context. He is Jewish, He came to fulfill the promises to His people the Jews and the covenants made to them through their history. As Christians, we accuse the news agencies of spinning their stories to accomplish an agenda, well, the church has done the same thing by not tell the whole story of Jesus beginning with Abraham and the Jewish people.
